Thanks to a reader for sending word that Rite Aid will be closing in Walnut Creek’s Tice Valley neighborhood. According to one employee I spoke with, March 22nd will be their last day.

Brooklyn-based R&A Cycles soft opened recently in Walnut Creek. In addition to a huge 11,000 square foot retail area with a custom studio called R&A Black, and service center, Ramona’s Cafe, located inside, will be serving various snacks, sandwiches, beverages including beer, wine and more beginning next month. If you’re into high-end cycling this place is a must-see!

The Laguna Beach-based jewelry store gorjana opened recently at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. As you can see in the above photo the entire front facade can be rolled up for the ultimate indoor-outdoor retail experience. Inside is light and airy with a relaxing SoCal beach vibe. In 2004, Gorjana Reidel followed a creative impulse and launched an eponymous, quintessentially Californian jewelry line with the help of her husband, Jason Griffin Reidel.
The driven and passionate duo combined their individual strengths to build the company from the ground up. They hit the road with samples in tow and drove a collective 50,000 miles to sell the initial collection. Initial orders were fulfilled from their apartment floor and they worked the trade show circuit as a team of two.

In November we learned that Dioro Jewelers, which relocated from Danville Livery would be moving into a newly remodeled building on Hartz Ave. but that’s no longer happening and they will remain at their current location at 444 Hartz Ave. for the time being. Check out their website here.
