Mt. Diablo Blvd. & Moraga Rd, Lafayette
Last year we learned that Wells Fargo closed at the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Moraga Rd. in downtown Lafayette and there are plans for La Fiesta Square to expand all the way from Luxe Home by Douglah Designs to this corner. With the potential for up to 30,000 sf of retail space on three levels according to the development page, I believe this will have the most visibility of all retails areas in Lafayette and look forward to finding out what opens here. What store would you most like to see?
Park Plaza Shops, Lafayette
The Bay Area-owned A Runner’s Mind running store has closed at the Park Plaza Shops in Lafayette. Yesterday we learned that Smitten Ice Cream closed in nearby La Fiesta Square which is unfortunate but it’s good to know that Joe & the Juice will eventually be opening next door.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
The furniture store Lovesac, featuring bean bag chairs and a modular sectional couch system, opened a new showroom at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. It’s hard to tell by looking at the photo below but the bean bag chair at right is gigantic. And that’s not even the largest size! If I had a stack burning a hole in my pocket I would definitely get this. Check out their online shop here.
La Fiesta Square, Lafayette
After 33 years in business the health food store Open Sesame is closing September 30th in La Fiesta Square in Lafayette. A sign in the windows notes that there is a retirement sale and according to the latest leasing information the gym Formula 3 will be opening in this spot.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
In the spring we learned that the furniture store Lovesac would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and their signage is now up. Check out their online shop here and stay tuned for their showroom to open soon…
1414 N. Main St, Walnut Creek

Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
In the beginning of the year we learned that ULTA Beauty would be coming to the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center and the signage is now up as they get closer to opening. They opened several years ago in the Willows shopping center in Concord; I wonder if that location will remain open. Check out their online shop here.
177 Hartz Ave, Danville
Pleasanton-based Bay Area Tile & Hardwood Supply is coming to Danville where Danville Wine & Liquors used to be on Hartz Ave. Check out their website here.
3603 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
Late last year we saw the progress of the new Chase bank building on Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette and as you can see the brick facade, floor-to-ceiling windows and signage is up so it shouldn’t be much longer before they open…
