Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Last October we learned that the resort and swimwear store Everything But Water would be coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and as you can see in the photo they will be opening next month in July and will be located where L’Occitane en Provence used to be. L’Occitane is now in the newer redeveloped section across from Macy’s.
There is plenty of work going on the backside of Broadway Plaza as it gets ready to open later this week. Stay tuned…

A couple of weeks ago we learned about a new eatery called EnRoute opening in the Avalon apartment complex near the Pleasant Hill BART station and the owner contacted me with an update:
I’d like to clarify that the concept is a “reinvented” convenience store, so taking the elements of convenience food and elevating them to today…think grab and go breakfast, lunch and dinner that’s organic, local and sustainable. There will also be kid-friendly cuisine, gluten-free and vegetarian options. Coffee, craft beer, delicious wine, cheese and charcuterie along with amazing (healthful) snack selections for those of us who are constantly “EnRoute” somewhere. I like to say I’m serving “Nourishment For Life’s Journey” in a “deliciously convenient” format. (I will also have some “not so delicious” items, aka sundries.:))
I definitely plan on checking this place out. Stay tuned…
La Fiesta Square, Lafayette
In addition to Urban Remedy juice bar coming to La Fiesta Square in downtown Lafayette, Washington D.C.-based Bluemercury skincare will also be opening across the square where the women’s clothing store Pendleton used to be.

Lafayette Clocktower
Happy times in Lafayette have arrived as a new children’s bookstore called Bel & Bunna’s Books opened recently in the Lafayette Clocktower on Mt. Diablo Blvd. in downtown Lafayette. Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for pointing out that according to the latest Walnut Creek permit information the women’s clothing and accessories store Aritzia will be taking over the former J. Crew spot in Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza who relocated across the street. Check out their website here.

Lafayette is getting an organic juice bar that also offers ready-to-eat meals and snacks as Urban Remedy is planning on opening a new shop in Lafayette Square where Specialtees outlet store used to be. Check out their juices here, and meals and snacks here.

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that according to the latest city permit report, Canada-based ALDO Shoes is opening a new store in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. Check out their website here.
3517 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
In March we learned that heart rate monitoring gym Orangetheory Fitness would be coming to Lafayette and the “Coming Soon” signage is now up and you can sign up for “Founders” rates now. According to a comment on their Facebook page it will be several months before they open. Check for updates on their Facebook page here. If they offer use of the parking lot next door that would be a huge member perk as it’s becoming harder to find parking with new restaurants and stores opening up in nearby Park Plaza.

After two years in downtown Walnut Creek, sadly, The Candy Counter has officially closed. You’re going to have to head out to Powell’s in Lafayette or Sweet Street in Danville to get your candy rush.
