8:00pm (Sat) 2:00pm & 8:00pm (Sun) | $29 – $38Diablo Ballet continues its 2012-13 season at the Shadelands Arts Center Auditorium in Walnut Creek, with the Company’s popular Inside the Dancer’s Studio series, featuring the Bay Area return of George Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes Pas de Deux, Friday, May 3rd at 8:00 pm and Saturday, May 4th at 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
The performance will begin with the Pas de Deux from Stars and Stripes by George Balanchine, set to the rousing, patriotic music of John Philip Sousa.
The program continues with the duet from They’ve Lost Their Footing by KT Nelson, Co-Artistic Director of ODC San Francisco. Set to the music of Hoven Droven, this electric dance displays the power and control of Nelson’s contemporary style.

The Program will also include the world premiere, From Another Time, by beloved Bay Area choreographer Tina Kay Bohnstedt, former long-time dancer with Diablo Ballet. This lyrical work is set to an original score by Bay Area concert pianist, Justin Levitt, who will also perform it live.
Diablo Ballet will close the evening with See Saw, a new work by Robert Dekkers, set to the music of Mendelssohn.
Diablo Ballet’s Inside the Dancer’s Studio brings audiences up-close to the power of dance. The series combines a fully costumed dance presentation performed to live music and audience participation in an intimate theater setting.
Patrons have the opportunity to participate in a question and answer session with the dancers, choreographers, musicians and artistic staff, moderated by Joanna Berman, former principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet, Dan Ashley, KGO News Anchor and Susan Safipour, Editor, Diablo Magazine. Following the performance is an exclusive complimentary food and wine reception, where patrons can meet the artists.
