I don’t mean to alarm anyone but the dinosaurs that recently appeared at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek have gone missing. If you spot them roaming around please do not approach them as they are extremely dangerous as they are known carnivores and may attack at any time.

The men’s fashion shop Daskalos, which has been open since 1990 at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, is closing at the beginning of January. I believe this was the only independently owned store within Broadway Plaza. Thanks to a reader for sending word about this.
From their website:
The ambitious young immigrant brohers opened a second Daskalos Brothers in Lafayette, California in 1974 that became a mainstay of the community for 26 years. In 1990 Daskalos Brothers changed direction by opening Daskalos European Fashions in Walnut Creek California within Broadway Plaza. The new store now offered high-end European apparel such as Canali, Zegna & Brioni.

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that New Zealand-based men’s retailer Rodd & Gunn is coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. Note that the photo above may not be the space they will be in. (Industrious will have a staircase in one of those spots.) Check out their online selection here.
From their website:
The Rodd & Gunn heritage dates back to 1946, when the brand’s first trademark logo – the English Pointer – was used on a boutique line of New Zealand made shirts.
In its current form, the brand was established in 1987 when the first stand alone store opened in Auckland’s Queen Street.
Rodd & Gunn is synonymous with quality, while taking its inspiration from New Zealand’s picturesque landscape. Rodd & Gunn’s philosophy is to create classic garments imbued with contemporary style and designed to stand the test of time.

Check out the new dinosaur sculptures at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek!
From the Chandra Cerrito/ Art Advisors website:
Two large-scale dinosaurs greet visitors and passers-by at one of the main access points into the shopping plaza. With seats, moveable parts, and a periscope for children to enjoy, the interactive artworks provide the perfect resting spot for weary shoppers and their young ones.
That’s nice of real estate company Macerich, which owns Broadway Plaza, to put up this sign remembering their long time property manager in front of ZARA:
GREG P. AGUIRRE
With sincere appreciation for your
dedication & beautification of
Broadway Plaza over the last 40 years

Thanks to a reader for sending word that NYX Cosmetics, which opened a few years ago in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. I wonder whether this is due to the location or competition from Sephora?
