Last September we learned that Old Navy would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they have now opened across from GAP. I believe this is the first time Old Navy has opened anywhere in Walnut Creek.

Last month we learned that Amazon Books would be opening a physical branch (including a cafe!) in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and things are progressing as the “coming this fall” signage is up where Coach and the Go! Calendars – Games – Toys store used to be. This will be a great addition to Broadway Plaza as it’s not the usual fashion-related shop we’d normally see.

Check out the new Old Navy storefront at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. It has an interesting white background with blue slats design in front that changes the look depending where you are. They will be opening next Saturday April 15th.

Note: Read my parking alert post from last year here.
A bit scary how Broadway Plaza parking jumps from free the first 3 hours to $25 for 5+ hours!
From a reader:
The lot behind Crate & Barrel has paid parking since January 7.
First 3 hours free, then confusing signage of each hour after.A friend and I were up there today for shopping and lunch. We began at 10 with coffee at Macy’s, then shopped in Macy’s ($50.00), cruised Lush and The Container Store, had lunch at Sunrise Bistro ($60.00), spent an hour or so in Crate & Barrel and finished up at David M Brian ($250.00), going back to the garage at 3:00. We were parked for 5 hrs.
First 3 hours free? . . .you would expect maybe $2.50 per hour after? . . .You would be wrong. It cost us $25.00 to park for those 5 hours!! Twenty-five dollars! That’s either $5.00 per hour or $12.50 per hour depending on how you look at it.
This is atrocious. A Wednesday in winter at the middle of the day? Seriously??
Five hours is not beyond reason for ladies to have coffee, shop, browse and have lunch – we easily might have wanted to take in a matinee too. The garage cost, however, was far, far beyond reason. This is urban robbery and taxes the very people who support those stores, shops and restaurants.

The fashion boutique XCVI is relocating once again a couple of doors down in Broadway Plaza where Amour Vert used to be.

Last month we learned that the clothing store Ministry of Supply would be opening where Vince Camuto used to be in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they have now opened. Although predominantly a men’s clothing store they also have a small women’s section as well. Check out their website here. They are having a launch party on March 15th with, “beer, wine, cocktails and made-on-the-spot ice cream from Smitten Ice Cream” as well as a “chance to win free Ministry of Supply products”. If interested, register for the party here.

Interesting addition about Amazon Books coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek which we found out back in January. According to this East Bay Times article, a cafe will be included in the “6,469-square-foot Amazon store”. As you can see in the photo of the recently vacated Coach store, Amazon Books will replace both the Coach store as well the the former Go! Calendars – Games – Toys store.

The iconic American leather goods store Coach suddenly closed in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek recently. This is right next to the clothing store Aritzia which opened last week. On the other side will probably be an Amazon Books store.

Last June we learned that the Vancouver-based women’s clothing store Aritzia would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek and they have now opened. They took over the former J.Crew and J.Jill spots and with soaring ceilings it feels quite spacious. The artistic flourishes throughout the store add to the scene. Check out their website here.
