It seems like just yesterday but the stationery store Papyrus closed almost two years ago in downtown Walnut Creek and they are finally coming to the backside of Broadway Plaza near Nordstrom.

Victoria’s Secret has relocated to a new spot within Broadway Plaza on the backside near Macy’s. PINK, their college-focused shop opened next door. As you can see in the photo below, they also have a window display on the garage side driving on S. Broadway, although there is no entrance from that side.

It’s been a long two year wait but Boudin Bakery & Cafe is finally back in a new spot next to Nordstrom in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and the new spot where they are located is SO much better than their former spot next to Macy’s. While the former spot felt claustrophobic due to lack of space and lighting, this new spot sees the light of day, literally, with giant windows allowing plenty of natural sunlight in. The larger space has plenty more seating as well as outdoor tables as well as a long section along the wall to line up.
I tried the classic BBQ pork sandwich with coleslaw and it was great. They also offer burgers which I don’t believe they offered in their old location. I also saw a beer and wine sign on the wall which will go great with their sourdough offerings. In addition to dishes they also offer sliced bread (sourdough, cinnamon raisin and multigrain).

It’s been over two years but Clarks shoe store is finally back in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. Check out the history of Clarks here.

Several shops in the recently opened backside section of Broadway Plaza are ones that have relocated within the plaza or from downtown Walnut Creek, but one completely new one is the children’s clothing store Hanna Andersson. Interestingly they also carry women’s clothing. Check out their website here.

Starbucks-owned Teavana has opened next to of all places, Starbucks, in Broadway Plaza at their recently opened location across from Macy’s in downtown Walnut Creek. This is no ordinary Teavana though and is one of the few concept stores to focus on loose leaf teas where there are even mixing bowls to combine one’s loose tea selection. In addition to hot tea samples there is also an iced tea sample area with four sweetened iced teas. When I mentioned to them it might be nice to offer one unsweetened iced tea they said they have been directed to use only sweetened teas. OK, then, sweetened teas it is.

The new Broadway Plaza garage behind Macy’s is looking great in downtown Walnut Creek. But has anyone noticed these boxes at the entrances? I hope that’s not what I think it is, but it sure does look like parking tolls to me. A valet parking attendant mentioned that Broadway Plaza will start charging in the new year. Anyone know what’s going on?

Several months ago we found out that Wetzel’s Pretzels would be coming to a kiosk in Broadway Plaza and now the other kiosk will soon be home to the skincare shop Oceane Beauty.
From their website:
The two key ingredients that make the Oceane line stand tall above the competition is Pearl Powder and Marine Plant Stem Cells, both well known for their age defying and beautifying properties.

We knew for a while that GAP would be relocating to the new Broadway Plaza redevelopment in downtown Walnut Creek and they have now reopened in a beautiful two story section on the backside of Broadway Plaza between Nordstrom and Macy’s. It’s much bigger than the previous location and both the outside architecture and inside look great. Plenty of natural light thanks to giant vertical windows that run straight up from the ground floor. Note the comfortable lounge area in front.

Starbucks Coffee has reopened near Macy’s as the backside of Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek has finally opened with quite a few stores including a huge new GAP store, the children’s clothing store Hanna Andersson, Victoria’s Secret, Lucky Brand, Bath & Body Works, See’s Candies, and the clothing store True Religion. It looks like Soma Intimates and Teavana is also open, with Clarks Shoes probably opening this Monday. This is way more than the stores that opened during the first phase back in November when only Kiehl’s and Lou & Grey were initially open. The new buildings are way taller than the last time the backside was open a couple of years ago. How do you like this new section of Broadway Plaza? There are a couple of nice lounge areas and benches.
