Back in June I noted that the women’s boutique J.Jill was relocating within Broadway Plaza and now Gymboree will be opening in this location as their current location across the street will be demolished soon to make way for the Broadway Plaza redevelopment.
Back in September I noted that the women’s boutique BCBGMAXAZRIA closed in Broadway Plaza and it turns out that another women’s boutique, White House | Black Market is relocating to this spot in Broadway Plaza.

Yogurt Park has closed their Broadway Plaza location after 26 years due to the Broadway Plaza redevelopment taking place very soon. However, they plan on reopening in two years when the new Broadway Plaza opens. According to a sign in the window, “The mall has granted Yogurt Park the opportunity to re-open in approximately two years after all construction is complete”. Their Berkeley location will remain open.
With all the store closings and relocations taking place at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek this month in preparation for the partial closure of the plaza for its redevelopment over the next couple of years, many people have been wondering what new stores will open when the redevelopment is finished.
Rumors have been spreading that Chanel and Gucci are coming to Broadway Plaza but according to a source familiar with the plaza no “designer” brands have been signed so far. Apparently the closing and underperformance of Burberry and the lackluster performance of Neiman Marcus are causing such brands to take a wait and see attitude.
With that being said, what stores would you like to see at the new Broadway Plaza? My source may be able to confirm a couple of the new stores that are mentioned in the comments so take your best guess!
The crystal store Swarovski is closing on January 26th in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek but they’ll be back in two years, after Broadway Plaza finishes their redevelopment. You can still shop Swarovski online or at the Stonridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton or for a better selection, at the Westfield mall in San Francisco.
Replacing them will be the children’s clothing store Janie and Jack thanks to a reader tip.
See’s Candies old location in Broadway Plaza
To Walnut Creek See’s Candies fans, fear not, See’s is not closing in Broadway Plaza, just relocating to where The Walking Company used to be, across from Neiman Marcus.

Continuing with Broadway Plaza closings, this time Steve’s Hallmark is closing in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek.
The Broadway Plaza store closings and relocations keep coming as the women’s fashion boutique Georgiou is closing in Broadway Plaza. Their closest location is in Carmel. Check out their website here. According to a sign in their window everything is 50% off.
Edwards Luggage will be relocating to the old Cole Haan location next to Neiman Marcus in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek sometime in February since half of Broadway Plaza will be soon demolished for new redevelopment.
