Last year we learned that Haya Ramen would be coming to the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center and their signage is now up. According to one of their job postings it will be an authentic Hakata Ramen restaurant. According to this Matcha Ramen magazine article, “a typical bowl of Hakata ramen is garnished with minimal toppings: just green onions and char siu (boiled or roasted pork).”

The restaurant and bar Jack’s recently reopened after a ten day interior remodel and newly revamped menu at the Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center. The inside is quite spacious with a bar area with TVs, outdoor patio, and additional dining space upstairs. I had an opportunity to dine there recently and enjoyed the experience, particularly the Thai steak salad, which was very tasty. For dessert the Galaktoboureko, which is a, “traditional Greek dessert, semolina custard rolled in phyllo pastry, apricot-orange blossom preserve, pistachio ice cream”, hit all the right spots. Check out their menus here. There are so many options to choose from in a family friendly environment that I’ll be sure to check this place out with my family.
From their website:
We’re open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks. It’s a family run business with a focus on genuine, old school hospitality. Jack’s welcomes guests with an extensive menu that reflects the Marcovici family’s Greek-American heritage and the natural bounty of their California home.
