1800 Mt. Diablo Blvd, Walnut Creek
The highly rated San Francisco-based pizzeria Slice House is getting ready to opening soon in downtown Walnut Creek. This is the final spot to open at the new development on the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Main St. Previously, ROOFTOP, Teleferic Barcelona and the clothing store Vineyard Vines opened over the past several months. Check for updates on their Facebook page here. As a huge pizza fan I can’t wait to try this place out!
1444 N. California Blvd, Walnut Creek
The iconic baseball bat door handles may be gone, but according to the Bay Area Newsgroup the restaurant MoMo’s, located next to AT&T Park in San Francisco is opening a second location in downtown Walnut Creek where McCovey’s used to be. Slater’s 50/50 was supposed to open here but that obviously fell through. Check out MoMo’s menus here.
From their website:
MoMo’s opened in 1998 and was so named in memory of our proprietor’s grandmother and mentor, whom he affectionately called MoMo. Located on the lively South of Market waterfront, we pride ourselves on offering a true San Francisco experience.
From an abundance of outdoor seating to a privileged view of AT&T Ballpark, we enjoy unique and distinct features that set us apart. Whether you choose to eat in our comfortable yet sophisticated dining room, outside on the patio or sitting at our famous bar, we provide high quality food and service throughout.
Come see for yourself why MoMo’s has become a San Francisco icon. MoMo’s is part of the Golden Bear Restaurant Corporation.
Sunvalley Shopping Center, Concord
The food court in Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord reopened recently and right nearby one can see the giant signs for Round 1 Bowling & Amusement. According to the Round One’s Sunvalley employment page, there will be video games, bowling, and karaoke. Sounds fun! Based on the alcoholic beverage sign above it looks like they will also offer beer and food.
Although the sign says “opening summer 2016” when I peeked inside it didn’t look close to being done.
1496 Newell Ave, Walnut Creek
Starbucks is the first store to open in the new Agora apartment complex in downtown Walnut Creek on Newell Ave. Around the corner California Pizza Kitchen will eventually be opening and located diagonally across is Pacific Bay Coffee Co.
The first person who lists all downtown Walnut Creek Starbucks locations (including those within other stores) gets a free BtC t-shirt.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
The men’s shoe store Allen Edmonds, which we learned would be coming to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek last October, is getting ready to open soon as you can see by the newly revealed storefront signage. This is one of the last locations remaining to open in the newly developed front section. (Nespresso is the other remaining spot opening soon). Then there is the backside of Broadway Plaza with a whole new slew of stores getting ready to open over the summer.
Find out more about Allen Edmonds on their website here.
70 Moraga Way, Orinda
Turquoise Mediterranean Grill, open since 2008, has closed in Orinda on Moraga Way. According to the alcoholic beverage control notice a new restaurant called Reem’s Steaks will be opening in this location. Stay tuned…
Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
Urban Plates, the Southern California-based “farm to plate” restaurant is opening mid-May according to their web site. As you can see in the photo below they are almost finished. Check out the Pleasant Hill menu here. I’m looking forward to trying this out!
Danville Livery, Danville
Last December we learned that Harvest Prep Kitchen opened in the Danville Livery on Sycamore Valley Rd. and although they recently closed, Zalla Kabob House, “voted top 10 Mediterranean cuisine in SF Bay” will be opening within the next week or so for lunch and dinner.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Last October we learned that Arhaus Furniture would be opening in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek, and thanks to a reader for pointing out this Craigslist job post that mentioned, “the store is expected to open on June 22nd of 2016“. The Arhaus Walnut Creek web page indicates a July opening. Since the location will be on the backside of the plaza this means this section will be reopening within the next couple of months after having been closed for over two years.
