Late last year we learned that The Shade Store would be coming to La Fiesta Square in Lafayette and they now plan on opening early April, possibly on April 5th. The storefront is particularly visible and bold at night as I’m sure people who drive by see. Check out their online gallery here.

Avalon, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word that the gourmet convenience store ENroute is closing after two years in business at the Avalon apartment complex near the Pleasant Hill BART station. As you can see in the letter below they were able to donate over 15,000 meals to the Monument Crisis center in Concord. They had a really interesting selection of items for sale and I’m sure it will be missed.

The Veranda, Concord
Last fall we learned that the Korean bbq place in a cup, Ko Cups would be opening in the Veranda shopping center in Concord and they will be officially opening this Saturday, March 16th. On that opening day they, “will offer a free regular fountain beverage on March 16 with every entrée cup purchase.”
From a PR:
From the start, their goal has been to make tasty yet reasonably priced Korean food, served in a bowl. Each Ko-Cup starts off with a base of rice, crispy lettuce, japchae noodles and a protein selection. Next comes a topping of extra-sweet corn, slices of sweet pickled yellow radish and black sesame seeds. The final touch is a choice of several homemade sauces, such as mayo-mustard, mayo-gochujang (hot pepper) and hot gochujang.
