Weight Watchers has opened in the Rheem Shopping Center in Moraga, replacing Dahn Yoga. They are located at 452 Center St. next to the post office. I wonder how this will compare to the Swedish Itrim center opening in Lafayette soon.

Back in January I posted about the wedding goods store Unveiled Bridal on Cypress St. in downtown Walnut Creek and unfortunately they are closing their only store to focus exclusively on online sales. Their last day will be July 18th and you can see what kind of sales they are having below.
If you happen to have a wedding coming up drop by and you might be able to get a great deal on something. Otherwise you can always shop online here.
Back in March I noted that Red Wagon, the children’s store in Lafayette was closing, and this is their final week in business. This Friday will be their last day. I peeked inside the window and didn’t really see anything for sale though, however the furniture and fixtures are also for sale.
A new restaurant, Basil Asian Restaurant, featuring Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, opened a couple of weeks ago replacing the Chinese restaurant Red Chopstick. Basil is located at 581 Moraga Rd. in Moraga, across the street from the Rheem Valley Shopping Center. Has anyone checked them out yet? Anything to recommend?
Back in March I noted the closing of Super Silver Jewelry in the back of Broadway Plaza, and now a new jewelry store has opened in its place, AZM Jewelers. They offer gold, diamond and tungsten rings, necklaces, earrings, and will carry watches in the future. In addition to selling jewelry, they also buy gold.
I noted back in February that Pure Beauty was closing in Walnut Creek, and noticed that Pure Beauty in downtown Lafayette has closed as well. Turns out that the company that owns Pure Beauty, Trade Secrets, filed for bankruptcy two times over the past couple of years.
Back in October I noted that Hanna’s Bags in downtown Walnut Creek was moving, and now a new furniture store, SOFA a la carte, is opening soon. This is located next to Ming Quong which was having difficulty renewing their lease a few months ago so that’s a good sign probably.
The Eco Shoppe, part of the Vitamin Shoppe at the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek is closing this week or next. Not much left but everything is 75% off so you might want to stop by if interested. Apparently a mattress store will be opening up in its place, and the Vitamin Shoppe will remain open on the corner.
Last month I noted that the hotly anticipated wood-fired Mexican Grill Barbacoa would be opening sometime in June and I have now learned that it will open next Tuesday, June 5th for dinner. Lunch service will follow sometime in the future. How cool is that sign?
Check out the awesome outdoor patio in front:
With Table 24 (same owners) and Shelby’s nearby, Orinda Theater Square is becoming a great dining destination. I can’t wait to try this place out.
Earlier this month I noted that Lava Pit closed in Lafayette next to Trader Joe’s, and now a new restaurant, Kabab Burger, Mediterranean Grill is opening tomorrow in its place. There will be typical mediterranean style dishes like shawarma, shish kabab, and hummus, but the specialty will be a kabab burger which will use kabab-style meat, ground up and served on a bun or pita. Good news for those looking for gluten-free items, one of the owners is gluten sensitive so there will be plenty of gluten-free and vegetable items on the menu as well. I look forward to trying out a kabab burger myself.
