In March I noted that U Threads was closing in Broadway Plaza, and it didn’t take long to find a new tenant. The furniture store Elegant Living Furniture will be opening today at 48 Broadway Lane. Check out some of what they have to offer:

Tiny Feet, a new children’s shoe store in the Orinda Theatre Square, opened last December, and is I believe the only children’s shoe store in all of Lamorinda. There is a little play area in one corner and is nicely decorated throughout. Check out the interior below:
If you’re in the market for high quality children’s shoes I would definitely check this place out.
Last December I noted that the mattress store Duxiana had closed back last July, and now a new hair salon called, Insignia Hair Salon, will take its place, opening early this summer. From their website:

It’s been a while since I’ve been to the Orinda Theatre Square and I have to say it’s really coming alive with new stores and restaurants. A new florist is having a soft opening on Friday called Anahid Designs. They were originally located in Santa Monica, then San Lorenzo and the owner has been doing floral designs the past 12 years. They are available for weddings and special events.
Check out an example of their work:
The grand opening will be held on May 5th. Just in time for Mother’s Day.
Back in January I noted that the restaurant Harvest Market would reopen in February, and I have learned that it will be opening on April 14th and will serve both lunch and dinner. You can see the updated decor in the photo above. The picture frames at left will contain photographs of farm scenes to emphsize the organic and natural ingredients being used.
Harvest Market is located at 1633 Bonanza St in downtown Walnut Creek right near McCovey’s restaurant.
Itrim, the Swedish weight loss program, is coming to Lafayette, in the former Design within Reach Store at La Fiesta Square, 973 Moraga Road. According to their Facebook page, they will begin accepting registrations April 16th with the center opening in June. Lamorinda Weekly reported that Itrim has partnered with the founders of the fitness club Club One which has 15 Bay Area locations.
From their website:

Sounds intriguing, has anyone ever heard of this?
Sandy’s Unique Boutique, the women’s clothing boutique in Lafayette is closing by the end of the month. They are having a huge sale at 50 – 70% off to get rid of inventory so drop by 3569 Mt Diablo Blvd (in the back) to check them out before they close.
Apparently they used to have a store in Walnut Creek which closed years ago.
Red Wagon, the children’s store located at 3535A Mt. Diablo Blvd. in La Fiesta Square, Lafayette is closing by summer when their lease is up. There is a possibility it might be sold instead. I have heard scuttlebutt that a different children’s store in the Piedmont area may relocate to Lafayette so maybe they could take over this place?
Grand Couture, the women’s fashion store located at the back side of Broadway Plaza, has closed judging by the empty storefront. This section of Broadway Plaza is turning into the kiss of death for small retailers as two other retailers right next to this have closed as well, U-Threads, and Super Silver Jewelry. The other side isn’t doing so well either, with Down Family Lane and PureBeauty also closing within the past few months.
