6:30pm – 8:00pm | $10LLLCF’s Distinguished Speaker Series welcomes Malcolm Margolin in Conversation with Kim Bancroft
In an age of big box stores and media conglomerates, how can an independent publishing house survive and even thrive? In “The Heyday of Malcolm Margolin: The Damn Good Times of a Fiercely Independent Publisher,” biographer Kim Bancroft explores the world of Margolin and Heyday Books – a nonprofit press devoted to Californias cultural and natural history. Heyday promotes widespread awareness and celebration of California’s many cultures, landscapes, and boundary-breaking ideas. Through its well-crafted books, public events, and innovative outreach programs, Heyday has built and continues to grow and sustain a vibrant community of readers, writers, and thinkers.
Join us for this conversation between Bancroft and Margolin, and hear first hand about Heyday’s roots in the do-it-yourself/change-the-world clime of 1970s Berkeley to its present-day status as the cultural linchpin for the state (Northern California Book Booksellers Association).
Ticket Special: $10/person. $40/person includes pre-event reception and reserved seating. Students: $5 (please call to register)
